In my work I explore the interwoven rhythms and infinite solitude of a landscape. Rather than depicting a specific location, I search for those fragile moments when abstract patterns of earth and sky reflect the spiritual immediacy of a place.

                     I have lived in New Mexico all my life, and its breathtaking landscapes have had a great influence on my work. My images incorporate the textures and colors of this landscape while savoring its stillness and feeling the heartbeat of earth and sky.  During each season, day and hour, New Mexico landscapes reflect the past while the ever-present wind whispers of the changes to come. At the same time, I am not interested in portraying the New Mexico landscape exactly. Rather, I want the viewer to experience passages of time composed in the solitude and infinite distance of the land.

                        The importance of time is reflected in my work as I build an image with as many as thirty layers over a period of days. I work with relationships of color, texture, light and shapes to form images that are as rich and layered  as the landscape which inspired them. I want my images to convey a sense of peace, but, at the same time, I allow them to offer the promise of change and transformation. The passage of time is as important in the development of my images as my choices of ink and paper.

                         As an artist, I want the viewer to listen and wander the earth with me in search of the place where the rhythms of earth, light and sky intertwine with our personal memories. I intend for my images to reflect the feel of the infinite in the here and now.
