Artist Statement

The most satisfying way of reacting to life is drawing the figure.  I use line and intense color to reveal the individuality of each subject.

The essence of my figurative work is to capture mood and character

The women I paint are not intended to be perfect. They are ordinary  women in everyday situations. They depict humor, sadness, moments

of reflection or a crossroads in their life. They are an extension of me and people I know.

The implied narrative behind each of them establishes  a connection with the

viewer’s personal experience and observations of others

The spontaneity of monotypes enables me to portray not only the

individual  and mood of each subject, but it also allows me to capture a

particular moment. Vibrant color sets the mood, while line and contour

establish a rhythm to bring shapes together. I create an intimate setting  which invites to viewer into the picture.
