Artist Statement

I am attracted to gritty sometimes controversial material for my

photos. My intention is to juxtapose connected or disconnected

images in a way that provoke or amuse the viewer. Sometimes

the connections are obvious in the paired images, but often they

 are open to interpretation

My process for making these photographs is to simply use my

camera as a collection  device. I collect the images intuitively,

randomly and then reassemble them later along with found

objects or found photos that I scan. I use the computer along

with photoshop to collage and manipulate the images in order to

create the transparencies that are then transferred to a plate.

I enjoy the process of making photo gravures. It enables me to

have more physical involvement with the image making. I get

my hands dirty. There is a depth and richness in the colors that I

can achieve in the plate to print process and uniqueness in each

and every print in the edition that I find appealing.
