I became interested in photogravures as a reaction to the digital photography today. As a commercial photographer, I have great respect for the current technology. It has allowed photographers to have more control over the final product. I have found however, that I miss the “hands on” aspect of older nineteenth and early twentieth century processes. Photogravures have a soft romantic quality unlike any other type of photography. I hope to spend more time exploring the possibilities of incorporating older process with current styles and themes.
