Artist Statement

Nature ‘speaks’ to me in so many ways. Walking within a natural setting is where I often have an ‘aha’ moment. My response is not a rational exercise it is a visceral and reverential one.  Whether it is the intricate architecture of seedpods or expansive vistas that move me, the resulting abstract images are visual conversations between ideas, process and materials.

My medium of choice, monotype, is the creation of one-of-a-kind images that combines both painting and printmaking techniques. Applying ink to plastic plates with brushes and rollers, I prepare images that are transferred onto paper in reverse, using an etching press. I love to explore color relationships and follow the threads of possibilities that emerge layer by layer.
