July Exhibition: Distant Views - Monotypes by Leonora Durrett
Durrett’s rhythmic and textured landscapes evoke lush, expressive vistas of untouched lands. Although some images clearly relate to New Mexico, many could be placed anywhere in the world. Durrett has worked and exhibited at New Grounds since 1997. This is Durrett’s boldest and most accomplished show so far.
Exhibition dates: July 2 - 31 (Early Bird Preview: June 29 – July 2)
First Friday Artscrawl Reception: July 2, 5 – 8:00 PM
Demonstration during the reception: Monotypes by Leonora Durrett from 6:30- 7:00 PM.
August Exhibition: Eclectic: Monotypes by Gerald Fitz-Gerald
The bold, colorful monotypes of Gerald Fitz-Gerald give light to the things in life one may take for granted. The dish of cold sorbet waiting to be eaten, your grandfather’s ties lying there while he decides which one to wear, a scene from a beautiful forest changing seasons; these are scenes that Gerald likes to capture. He draws his inspiration from the eclectic imagery of the world today.
Exhibition dates: August 6-28.
First Friday Artscrawl Reception: August 6th from 5 to 8 PM
Demonstration during the reception: Monotypes by Gerald Fitz-Gerald from 6:30 to 7 PM.
September Exhibition: Landscape Voices - Monotypes and Etchings by Jacob Tarazon Matteson
Matteson’s abstract landscapes are vibrant, dramatic, and invite the viewer to observe the interaction of light, color, shape, pattern, and motion. In his landscapes, objects have been masterfully reduced to their essential qualities, yet his dramatic palette often evokes the tense moment of an approaching storm, simmering heat, or the steam rising from the drenched earth.
(Early Bird Preview: August 31 – September 3)
First Friday Artscrawl Reception: September 3, 5 – 8:00 PM
Demonstration during the reception: Etching, by Jacob Matteson from 6:30- 7:00 PM.
