FEBRUARY:

Charismatic Megafauna – Etchings by Ray Maseman

Maseman’s colorful and quirky etchings feature anachronistic modes of travel and incongruous characters.  These protagonists travel through their world, perhaps looking or searching for something. They don’t know where or when they will find it, or maybe even what “it” is, but they have an abiding faith that they will reach their destination.  Underlying much of Maseman’s work are reflections about home—whether it is a place one is going to, leaving from, or is carried within. Maseman’s works could be characterized as children’s stories, but they are more for adults (or the child within us) than for children. Whether you are an adult or a child, Maseman’s etchings will bring a smile to your face!

Exhibition dates: February 3 – March 10, 2012

First Friday Reception: February 3, 5 – 8:00 PM.

MARCH:Landscape Dimensions – Monotypes by Jacob Tarazon Matteson

Matteson’s abstract landscapes are vibrant and dramatic. There is an almost surreal feel to his landscapes since he not only masterfully reduces landscape elements to their essential qualities, but often presents multiple points of view, or times of day, within the same image. There is an intense emotional quality to his pieces – his dramatic palette often evokes the tense moment of an approaching storm, simmering heat, or the steam rising from the drenched earth.

Exhibition dates: March 16 – April 28, 2012

Early Bird Preview: March 13 – 16

Route 66 Artscrawl Reception: Friday, March 16, 5 – 8:00 PM.
